Artistic Director
Modupe Olaogun, PhD., York University, Toronto

Born and raised in Ibadan, Nigeria, Ms Olaogun is a professor of English at York University in Toronto. She is the founder of the AfriCan Theatre Ensemble, and has been its Artistic Director since its inception in 1998. Under her leadership, the company has done seven productions at the Artword Theatre in Toronto. She has organized guest lectures and workshops in collaboration with the University of Toronto and York University for the visiting playwrights some of these productions: Nigerian Ola Rotimi (deceased) and South African Zakes Mda.

Nora Rock, Arts Administrator (Grants)

Nora Rock is a freelance writer/editor and a graduate of the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto. She has grant writing experience both as an artist (writer) and for a publisher — Emond Montgomery Publications – where she served seven years as Director of Acquisitions. She is relatively new to the theatre community, but performed as an actor/singer while in University and worked as a volunteer fundraiser for Theatre New Brunswick. Nora comes from a family with many actors and singers, and is delighted to have this opportunity to support Canadian theatre.
